Steely Dan 2022 Tour Announcement – Earth After Hours Tour Schedule
Steely Dan has extended the “Earth After Hours tour” through the rest of summer 2022, and people are lining up to see them! The next Steely Dan concert takes place on July 13th in Franklin, TN, with stops in Durham, NC, Hollywood, FL, Atlantic City, NJ, and more before concluding on August 14th in Port Chester, NY.
The band began this Steely Dan tour in spring 2022 and has played some of the country’s biggest venues. We’re talking about the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA, and Xfinity Center in Boston, MA. Now they’re bringing their distinctive jazz-rock fusion to a few smaller cities, and we can’t wait! The group is now headed primarily by Donald Fagen and his backing band, and you’ll be in awe of Steely Dan. Rolling Stone once called them the “perfect musical antiheroes for the seventies,” and they prove that this term can be a compliment!
The group began 51 years ago by Fagen and Walter Becker, who became the faces behind Steely Dan. They were the ones who made a statement with hit songs like “Do It Again,” “Reelin’ in the Years,” “Peg,” and “Kid Charlemagne,” and frequently topped lists by VH1 and Rolling Stone of the best musical duos of all time. After an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and 40 million albums sold, they had a bond that was a half-century in the making. Sadly, Becker passed away in 2017, but Donald Fagen continues to tour and protect his friend and bandmate’s legacy.
From “name dropping” to puzzling lyrics that you must uncode, there are a lot of devices in Steely Dan songs that set them apart. They haven’t released an album in nearly two decades, but we’re still trying to decipher all their other tracks from the past half-century. 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of their debut album, Can’t Buy A Thrill, and Fagen plans to do justice to his old friend and this world-famous record on the Steely Dan tour.
