5 Seconds of Summer is performing through the end of July 2022, and there’s still time to see the pop-punk heroes. Their next concert takes place on July 18th in Cincinnati, OH, with stops in Toronto, ON, Minneapolis, MN, and Maryland Heights, MO, before concluding on the 26th in Rogers, AR.
Given their band name, is it surprising that the 5 Seconds of Summer tour has been one of the best of summer 2022? Dubbed the “Take My Hand World Tour,” the Australian group has been waiting for years to retake the stage. They were initially meant to hit the road in 2020 to support the release of their fourth album, Calm, that same year… until the pandemic put it to a halt. The good news? They had plenty of time at home to work on their follow-up record, 5SOS5, which is set for release in September 2022. This 5 Seconds of Summer tour will beautifully celebrate both records with powerhouse performances and a fresh start for the pop-punk band and their longtime fans.
The fans have had a blast dancing to older tracks like “Teeth,” “Easier,” and “She Looks So Perfect” each night, plus new singles from 5SOS5. They’re just as poppy as you’d expect, although some tracks take some emotional turns. For example, there’s “Blender,” which Rolling Stone describes as a “smoothie of emotions” and “more than five seconds of emotional damage.” But hey, at least they’re “processing it in a fun, upbeat way!” The group can give an optimistic twist to even the darkest lyrics in true 5 Seconds of Summer style, and they’ll bring positivity into your summer with these fun performances.
While the 5 Seconds of Summer tour has been a blast, there have also been a few bumps in the road. Drummer Ashton Irwin was recently hospitalized after suffering severe heat exhaustion, which caused the group to cancel a handful of shows.
