Lyle Lovett 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Lyle Lovett has announced a massive tour across the US beginning in spring 2022. The Americana legend will kick off the trek on March 29th in New Braunfels, TX, and visit over 50 major cities before wrapping up on May 4th in Tarrytown, NY.
It’s been ten years since Lovett released his latest record, 2012’s Release Me, but his extensive catalog of country-rock hits is enough to fill the setlist. His top-charting singles include “If I Had a Boat,” “Cowboy Man,” “Give Back My Heart,” and, of course, the beloved Disney classic “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Did you know that it was Lovett’s delightful voice that did a duet with Randy Newman for the 1995 film Toy Story? If you didn’t while watching it on repeat in childhood (shoutout to millennials), you do now!
Despite the lack of new music, Lovett has remained a solid touring act over the years. And it’s easy to see why. He puts on quite the show with his backup instrumentalists, dubbed “His Large Band,” while the Texas-born singer is a true cowboy… but doesn’t look like you’d expect. Unlike other country stars around his age, like Alan Jackson or George Straight, the 64-year-old Lovett chooses to put the cowboy hat and heeled boots aside for a sleek suit or button-up shirt.
That’s right; the “Cowboy Man” singer goes on stage looking majorly put together, to the point where you may wonder if you’re at a jazz concert! But rest assured that Lovett has Texas in his blood and sings the best Americana beats that combine country, rock, and bluegrass. The pandemic gave Lovett a bit of a break from performing after doing it for nearly four straight decades, but he’s now ready to get back on stage where he belongs. And you have over 50 chances to see the famed Americana singer on the 2022 Lyle Lovett tour.
