John Fogerty 2022 Tour Announcement
There’s still time to see John Fogerty in late summer and fall 2022! The American icon will next perform on August 18th in Saratoga, CA, with stops in Sparks, NV, Selbyville, DE, and Lincoln, CA, before concluding with a multi-night Las Vegas residency on November 19th.
Fogerty has stayed busy ever since live music returned last summer. He kicked off his first post-pandemic trek around one year ago and has since performed at major venues like the Hollywood Bowl. That was undoubtedly a full-circle moment for Fogerty, who first performed on the major Los Angeles stage over fifty years ago with his then-band Creedence Clearwater Revival. He’s been a solo artist since the 1970s, but he’ll never forget where he came from, and you can expect tracks from both his time in the band and his own projects during this John Fogerty tour.
Fogerty is an American icon in every sense of the term. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee has never been afraid to get political and advocate for change through his music, and he often performs hits like “Proud Mary,” “Who’ll Stop the Rain,” and “Centerfield” in front of an American flag! His outspoken nature has been prevalent over the past few years, challenging former President Trump for using Fogerty’s song at one of his rallies and releasing a heartbreakingly beautiful ballad called “Weeping in the Promised Land.”
This track is a mix of rock, country, and gospel that displays Fogerty’s passion for change — singing about the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter, and Donald Trump. The critically acclaimed song was powered by the pandemic and the rocker’s tenth album, 2020’s Fogerty Factory. He’s hoping to change the world for his fans and family but recently opened up about how that’s a more challenging feat than he’d ever imagined.
“We thought things would be resolved, but that didn’t happen; they just got quiet,” he told Los Angeles Daily News. “When things were flaring up again in the last five or six years so loudly, I was surprised. I literally looked at things and said, ‘Man, I thought we took care of that in the 60s.’ I know that sounds naive, but I’m a much older person now, and you feel things much deeper and with much more importance.” He continued, “When you’re young, there’s a lot of raging hormones, and the rest of it, life is full of possibilities, and you’re in a big hurry, going 110 miles an hour. When you’re young, you’re young.
“But as an older person, you realize how bad the inequality is,” he confessed. “A place like America, which has been the beacon of hope, democracy, the American dream, and all the rest of the beautiful things America stands for, when you’re older and if you’ve been lucky like I’ve been lucky in my personal situation, you realize you are just that; you’re lucky.” Fogerty concluded, “But there are a lot of folks out there that aren’t, and we need to make this American dream true for everybody.”
The American dream can mean something different for everybody, but John Fogerty has exemplified the term for half a century. He’s going to put on an incredibly patriotic show throughout fall 2022, and you still have time to get your John Fogerty tickets!
