Father John Misty 2026 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Father John Misty is changing things up after a busy year on the road. Following a 2026 run supporting Mahashmashana, Josh Tillman will close out the year with his first solo headlining tour in more than a decade, stripping away the full-band setup for a much more intimate run of December shows. They’ll begin on December 9 in Boulder before visiting Fort Collins, Santa Fe, Tucson, Napa, Grass Valley, and Carmel-by-the-Sea, where he’ll wrap with back-to-back shows on December 18 and 19. Damien Jurado will support the entire trek.
Did we mention you’ll hear new music? Tillman just released “The X-panded Universe,” his latest standalone single of 2026 following “The Payoff” and “The Old Law.” The second track had already been floating around live since 2024 under the fan-familiar title “God’s Trash,” but clearly it needed a glow-up for the studio version before heading back out on the road. It will be joining tracks from his most recent full-length, 2024’s Mahashmashana, and maybe even demos from this year’s 10th-anniversary collection of I Love You, Honeybear.
This musical versatility is what we imagine will make a solo tour especially interesting. Father John Misty’s full-band shows can be huge, theatrical affairs filled with strings, dramatic builds, and enough existential dread to score the end of civilization. Take away some of that production, though, and you’re left with Tillman, his voice, and lyrics that have always made plenty of impact on their own. Songs like “I Love You, Honeybear,” “Chateau Lobby #4 (in C for Two Virgins),” “Real Love Baby,” “Nancy From Now On,” and “Holy Sh**” don’t need pyrotechnics or special effects to make you think back on your mistakes, relationships, and the last time you prayed….
Especially if it was longer ago than you’d like to admit. This man’s voice has proven itself to be next-level powerful over the past decade plus, and he somehow still manages to keep his indie aura even as he’s risen to mainstream popularity. Before the moniker, Father John Misty released music as J. Tillman and spent several years drumming for Fleet Foxes. But beginning with Fear Fun in 2012, he built a career out of turning romance, religion, ego, technology, mortality, Los Angeles, and his own worst tendencies into songs we can all relate to.
They’re funny, devastating, and occasionally unbearable in the best possible way, and you couldn’t possibly get any more LA. I Love You, Honeybear became his breakthrough, which is why we took the time to celebrate its birthday in 2026, while Pure Comedy, God’s Favorite Customer, Chloë and the Next 20th Century, and Mahashmashana kept expanding the world around that very specific brain. You’ll see what we mean from the moment you step into the audience, trust us.
So yes, a 2026 Father John Misty solo show may be quieter than the usual production, but that probably just means there’s nowhere to hide when the lyrics hit. Add Damien Jurado, a decade-plus gap since his last full solo headlining run, and a fresh batch of songs to the equation, and these December dates feel like a particularly good way to spend an evening getting emotionally roasted by one man with a guitar.
