David Lee Roth 2021-2022 Performance Announcement – Roth Rocks Las Vegas Residency Schedule
This winter, David Lee Roth is heading back to Las Vegas for his “David Lee Roth Rocks Vegas” residency, which features five performances, including a New Year’s Eve concert! You can see the veteran rocker at House of Blues beginning December 31st, 2021, with shows continuing until January 8, 2022.
This David Lee Roth concert series first began nearly two years ago, with the former Van Halen frontman playing a small number of shows before postponing the rest due to the pandemic. After a short stint opening for KISS on their End of the Road tour, which was cut short due to a bit of drama between Roth and Gene Simmons, the rocker announced that he would be returning to Las Vegas for the final five shows of his career.
Yes, you read that right. In October, David Lee Roth told Las Vegas Review-Journal that he was officially retiring in 2022, putting an end to his fifty-year career as a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. These final Las Vegas shows will be his last ever, and he’s putting everything he has into these performances.
“I am throwing in the shoes. I’m retiring,” Roth told the publication. “This is the first and only official announcement. … You’ve got the news. Share it with the world.” He also spoke about his upcoming Las Vegas concerts, saying he hopes the audience will “bear with me here. Please try not to interrupt. I’m going to close my eyes and take you on a ride.”
David Lee Roth is a glam metal icon of the highest degree, with dozens of hits under his spiked belt from his solo career and time with Van Halen. “Dance the Night Away,” “Goin’ Crazy,” and “Runnin’ With the Devil” are just a few songs that we’re hoping to hear at the House of Blues, paired with Roth’s undeniable stage presence and carefree demeanor that’s made him the ultimate rock star.
However, don’t think that David Lee Roth doesn’t have a soft side. He has spoken openly about his love for his late bandmate, Eddie Van Halen, who died of cancer in October 2020. At the MTV Video Music Awards this past September, Roth put his own sarcastic spin on his tribute to Van Halen’s namesake.
“He’s either in heaven raisin’ hell. Or he’s in hell, consequently in heaven,” Roth said. “Read into that as you wish. And he would have me say it just like that. And I carry on that spirit deliberately.” It’s spirit, and so much more that’s carried on by David Lee Roth, and his upcoming Las Vegas residency is your last chance to see the world-renowned rockstar in the flesh.
