Warren Haynes 2022 Tour Announcement – The Last Waltz Tour Schedule
Are you ready for a country-rock extravaganza? Warren Haynes is performing alongside Jamey Johnson, Don Was and more on “The Last Waltz tour,” beginning November 3th in Port Chester, NY, and continuing through the 20th in Petersburg, FL.
“The Last Waltz tour” originally took off years ago in 2017, with Haynes and Johnson playing together as a tribute to The Band’s iconic farewell show in 1976. We’ll explain more about that later, but just know that it was one of the biggest Americana moments in music history. This trek is organized by original “The Band” member Robbie Robertson and his son Sebastian, both of whom can’t wait to see their modern country-rock companions on the road. Featuring a blend of their own Americana hits, plus maybe a few covers of songs by The Band, this reunion between Haynes, Johnson, and all their Southern rock friends will be one for the books.
It’s been a big year for both singers. Haynes toured with his band, Gov’t Mule, and even recorded his very first all-blues album, Heavy Load Blues. We already knew that he was a Southern rock hero in every way, but now he’s officially an expert in the blues, rock, and country genres! As for Johnson, he famously hasn’t released a new album in over a decade, but that hasn’t stopped him from being one of the biggest touring acts of our time. He draws in thousands of fans per night on his headlining tours and joint treks with the likes of Blackberry Smoke, and it’s only going to get bigger and better on “The Last Waltz tour.”
Why exactly was The Band’s farewell show so special that the 1976 concert was filmed by Martin Scorsese and inspired a tribute tour with Americana’s biggest acts? We can’t say for sure, but we have a few theories. Maybe it’s because every rock star from Bob Dylan and Ronnie Hawkins to Eric Clapton and Neil Young joined them onstage during the show. Or perhaps it was the upbeat energy and incredible crowd that gave “The Last Waltz” the reputation as one of the best concert films of all time?
