Bikini Kill 2022 Tour Announcement – Reunion Tour Schedule
Bikini Kill is coming to your city! The punk rock legends are making 16 stops across the country, beginning March 30th in Nashville, TN, and making stops in Silver Spring, MD, Boston, MA, Cleveland, OH, and more before concluding on April 23rd in Knoxville, TN.
“Throughout 2022, Legendary feminist punk band Bikini Kill embarked on an expansive international tour after a thrilling reunion in 2019, which marked their first full shows since 1997,” reads a press statement about this Bikini Kill tour. “Today, the band has announced a slew of rescheduled dates for 2023, including an additional show in St. Paul, Minnesota.” Joined by Kathleen Hanna on vocals, Tobi Vail on drums, Kathi Wilcox on bass and Sara Landeau on guitar, it’s going to be a Riot Grrrrl reunion like you’ve never seen before.
The legacy of Bikini Kill can’t be covered in a few paragraphs, songs, or even stage performances, as their reign in the 1990s was unmatched. They were pioneers in the underground feminist punk movement known as “Riot Grrrl,” mixing politics with punk beats to give women everywhere a voice. They sang about issues like sexuality, racism, abuse, and fighting for the greater good long before the “Me Too” movement, and people took notice.
Despite criticism back then for their outspoken nature, it’s clear that Kathleen Hanna and her bandmates made a difference. Publications like The New York Times and Rolling Stone have praised their legacy, and expressed excitement about seeing a Bikini Kill concert for the first time in 25 years. “This show was more than just a nostalgia trip for Nineties feminist punks reveling in those were the days camaraderie — the crowd was equally, if not more so, filled with younger fans,” wrote Rolling Stone, “Mostly women, who were graced with the Easter-adjacent miracle of their favorite band rising from the great beyond.
Many of Bikini Kill’s greatest fans weren’t even born when they split decades ago, but that’s just part of their appeal. The group’s feminist hits like “Rebel Girl,” “Feels Blind, “White Boy,” and “Double Dare Ya” have been passed down for generation from mothers to daughters, friend to friend, and beyond, and they’re bringing even more spark and stage presence on one of the first Bikini Kill tours since the 1990s. You definitely don’t want to miss this Riot Grrrl reunion, with tickets available now!
