Turnpike Troubadors 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Turnpike Troubadors have announced a spring 2022 tour, with performances at some of the country’s most prominent venues. You can see the Red Dirt and Americana band beginning April 8th in Tulsa, OK, with performances continuing through May 15th in Morrison, CO.
This Turnpike Troubadors tour is special for a myriad of reasons. It marks their first trek after a three-year hiatus, with frontman Evan Felker becoming healthier and happier than ever, while they’re also playing locations that are legendary for any Americana fan. These include Billy Bob’s Texas, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Cain’s Ballroom in their native Oklahoma.
The band is just as excited about this Turnpike Troubadors tour as their loyal fans, and can’t wait to play Red Dirt (an Oklahoma-specific genre of country music) songs in their hometown. Felker and his bandmates discussed the reunion with Rolling Stone last November, getting personal about health, happiness, and their Americana hits.
“There’s a thing that happens when you’ve worked with someone for a long time that’s just magic,” said Felker, who played with the group from 2007 until their hiatus in 2019. “The chemistry that we have, and being able to play off of each other without speaking or anything like that, it’s an amazing little phenomenon. And it happens for three or four minutes at a time, and I’m very appreciative of things like that now.”
“I miss playing music,” he added, “but I don’t miss being drunk and telling the same stories over and over again.” Felkner took the band’s hiatus to focus on getting sober and reaching a place of personal fulfillment. Now healthier than ever, he’s thrilled to get back on the road with his friends and fans, playing your favorite tracks like “Long Hot Summer Day” and “Good Lord Lorrie” with newfound appreciation.
Some fans have wondered whether the band will release a sixth album anytime soon, or play new tracks on this Turnpike Troubadors tour. It’s a valid question, as it’s been nearly five years since the release of 2017’s A Long Way From Your Heart, but the band hasn’t made any announcement about new music.
