The Monkees 2021 Tour Announcement – Farewell Tour Schedule
There’s still a handful of shows left in the Monkees’ Farewell tour, and now is your chance to say goodbye to one of the best pop-rock groups of the past five decades. Next, you can catch them on November 6th in Milwaukee, WI, with the final date taking place on the 14th in Los Angeles, CA.
The two surviving members of the Monkees – Micky Dolenz and Michael Nesmith – have been performing across the country since September. Despite the sadness of this being their final tour, these emotions are overpowered by nostalgia and upbeat hits that span half a century. From the classic “I’m a Believer” to newer tracks like “Me & Magdelena” and “Birth Of An Accidental Hipster,” there’s a lot to appreciate on The Monkees Farewell Tour.
Television and boy bands commonly go together – from The Jonas Brothers and Big Time Rush launching their TV shows to The X Factor launching one of the most prominent groups of the 2010s: One Direction. But did you know that The Monkees did it first? Their comedy show of the same name aired in the mid-1960s, and while it only lasted for two seasons… the legacy of The Monkees as pop-rock legends has continued for decades.
Only two original members of The Monkees remain, with Davy Jones passing away in 2012 and Peter Tork in 2019. The group and their fans miss them every day, and the men’s presence is still very much felt at every The Monkees concert.
“It’s bittersweet,” Dolenz told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch about the final The Monkees tour. “Without all four of us there, it’s a different kind of thing, just as all of the tours have been different. That’s why we’re calling it, officially, ‘The Monkees present the Mike and Micky Show.’”
What will Mike and Micky do after completing this tour? Dolenz has stated that he plans to continue his solo projects, while we can assume that Nesmith will do the same. In the meantime, we can’t wait to hear them play all the best The Monkees songs one last time! Will we see you on this farewell tour? Check the schedule below and get your tickets now.
