Steve Lacy is finally heading back out on a North American headline tour, and yes, it’s about time. The Grammy-winning artist will kick off the “Oh yeah? Tour” on September 27 at The Armory in Minneapolis, MN, before hitting Chicago, Sterling Heights, Toronto, New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Raleigh, Miami, Atlanta, Los Angeles and more. The 27-city run wraps November 30 at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre in Vancouver.
The tour supports Lacy’s third studio album, Oh yeah?, which came out on July 17, 2026, four years after Gemini Rights. But even with a substantial gap between records, the time flies by when you’ve released a project so epic. Gemini Rights gave us “Bad Habit,” the on-repeat hit that went from TikTok virality to Grammy consideration seemingly overnight. It was one of the biggest hits of 2022, turned Lacy into a household name, and probably made a lot of people pretend they had always been deep into The Internet.
But even if you weren’t, there’s still plenty of Steve Lacy to go around for both old and new fans. He’s not even 30, yet already playing major venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Hollywood Bowl…which is only one sign of his star power as his new era approaches. Lacy could have easily chased another “Bad Habit” moment with Oh yeah? — cleaning up his lyrics and making another mainstream-friendly hit for maximum chart hopping. But instead, the new album sounds more like him refusing to become a one-hit-wonder.
The self-produced 10-track album features SZA, Erykah Badu, and Cecile Believe, while still keeping Lacy’s signature sound all over it — weird guitar choices, sticky hooks, left turns, and enough cool-kid looseness to remind why you he’s such a big deal. Unlike the 2022 “Give You The World” trek, the 2026 Steve Lacy tour isn’t about proving he can fill rooms anymore. We’re long past that. Rather, he’s all set to walk onto bigger stages with a catalog that includes “Dark Red,” “N Side,” “Some,” and whatever Oh yeah? tracks fans have already claimed.
Clash called the new album “just shy of a true classic”, while NME says that Lacy’s instincts “allow him to adequately move forth when necessary, never lingering in an emotion to the point that it feels redundant”. We detect no lies, as emotions are all over the place with the 28-year-old…as are the genres. Lacy’s whole appeal has always been that he doesn’t sound like he’s trying too hard to fit into one scene.
He came up through The Internet, became one of the most distinctive guitar players and producers in modern R&B, worked with artists like Kendrick Lamar and Vampire Weekend, and still managed to create a reputation as a solo artist that most can only dream of.
