The Killers 2022 Tour Announcement – Pressure Machine Tour Schedule
The Killers are going on tour later this year, celebrating the release of their back-to-back albums over the past two years. Catch the alt-rock heroes beginning August 19th in Vancouver, BC, with performances lasting through October 8th in Detroit, MI.
The Killers knew that they had to do something big to celebrate their 20-year-anniversary as a band in 2021, especially after the pandemic cancelled their tour the previous year. While it was a bit too early to get back out on the road, singer Brandon Flowers and his bandmates did manage to write one of the best albums of their career. Pressure Machine was released last summer, a concept album told by the townspeople of Flower’s former home of Nephi, UT.
Despite the band being known for their Las Vegas roots, right down to their glittering outfits and impeccable showmanship, Flowers has a special place in his heart for Nephi, and quarantine allowed him to pour his heart onto the page. Rolling Stone describes Pressure Machine as a “concept record about life in Nephi told from the perspective of various townspeople.” The publication also states that it “touches on everything from prescription drug abuse and poverty to crime, homophobia, and depression.”
While this may sound sad, you’ll find beauty in how far we’ve come since Flowers was a child in 1990s Utah. The Killers began taking a more folk-rock turn with their sixth album, 2020’s Imploding the Mirage, although the record still incorporated their trademark alt-rock and synthpop. Pressure Machine, however, takes a major turn into heartland territory.
We could definitely see the band on the Bonnaroo lineup with these Americana tracks, which will provide a relaxation moment on the Killers tour between their dance-worthy 2000s hits. Don’t worry, you’ll still hear favorites like “Mr. Brightside,” “Somebody Told Me,” and “When You Were Young.” In fact, they’ll be a reminder of the killer journey (pun intended) that the band has been on for two decades now. Will you be there to watch?
