Peter Gabriel 2023 Tour Announcement – i/o The Tour Schedule
Peter Gabriel is visiting 12 North American cities on “i/o The Tour,” and it will be a magical night with the legendary British singer! These Peter Gabriel concerts will kick off on September 8th in Quebec City, QC, making stops in Boston, MA, New York, NY, Seattle, WA, and more before concluding on October 13th in Los Angeles, CA.
Gabriel’s tenth album, i/o, is set for release later in 2023, which Rolling Stone lovingly calls “the Chinese Democracy of Peter Gabriel albums.” Trust us; Guns N’ Roses fans, it’s a compliment! This record is Gabriel’s first since 2011’s New Blood and, apparently, 20 years in the making, so it’s safe to say that we have high hopes for the former Genesis frontman. Luckily, he’s delivered new songs like “Panopticom” and “Playing for Time,” both of which are hauntingly beautiful and heartfelt tracks about the human mind.
“It is more of a personal song about how you assemble memories and whether we are prisoners of time or whether that is something that can actually free us,” Gabriel said about “Playing For Time.” “I do think it’s good to push yourself towards more bold or interesting experiences because then you will have richer memories to feed you when you get to my age. You also get taught by every meaningful experience that you go through.”
These experiences have been plentiful for Peter Gabriel, who rose to fame as the singer of the band Genesis in 1967. Sure, he went solo in 1975 and was replaced by Phil Collins, but it’s clearly worked out for him! Peter Gabriel has become known as a world music and progressive rock icon in not just his native England but across the globe. If you don’t believe us, just hear what the music scholars and critics have to say.
Rolling Stone journalist Ryan Reed refers to Gabriel as an “art-rock innovator, soul-pop craftsman, and ‘world music’ ambassador.” Additionally, music scholar Greg Akkermann praises his ability to appeal to fans of every genre — from world beat and alternative rock to blue-eyed soul and dance. And we haven’t even told you about his six Grammy Awards, spot on Time’s 100 most influential people list, and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame!
Peter Gabriel’s half-century legacy is unmatched in every way, and you’ll be witnessing a true musical icon when you see him on the i/o tour. Get your tickets today for the following cities!
