Gorillaz 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Gorillaz is embarking on a 22-date tour in fall 2022! You can catch the virtual band beginning September 11th in Vancouver, BC, with performances continuing through October 23rd in Miami, FL.
Many exciting things are happening for the virtual band that combines alternative rock, art pop, electronica, and hip-hop. Not only does this mark the first Gorillaz tour in years, but it can also be considered a late 20th-anniversary celebration for their 2001 self-titled debut. The virtual band has always been ahead of its time, and Gorillaz helped put them on the map before their smash sophomore effort, Danger Days, rose them to mainstream success in 2005. Remember singles like “Clint Eastwood,” “Rock the House,” “Feel Good Inc.,” and “Dare”? They’ll all be played on this Gorillaz tour.
Of course, there are also the newer tracks from their seventh album, 2020’s Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez. They also released an EP titled Meanwhile in summer 2021 and have hinted at more unreleased songs coming soon. Gorillaz truly is the hardest-working cartoon band in the business, and both the virtual and human members can’t wait to put on a grand show on the Gorillaz tour.
The virtual band comprises Murdoc Niccals, 2-D, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. Meanwhile, the “real” ones in the technical sense are Damon Albarn, Jamie Hewlett, and Remi Kabaka Jr. They work together to ensure that while the latter three take the stage, it’s the cartoons that capture the audience’s attention on the mega-screens at a Gorillaz concert. This partnership has helped Gorillaz become one of the world’s biggest virtual bands and set the stage (both literally and otherwise) for new technology in the music industry. And we can’t wait to watch their legacy unfold on the Gorillaz tour.
