Father John Misty 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Father John Misty is soon heading on a summer 2022 tour, which kicks off July 31st in Denver, CO at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Joined by Suki Waterhouse, the indie-folk singer will continue for dozens of dates before playing the final show on the Father John Misty tour on October 8th in Durham, NC.
This Father John Misty tour supports his recently-released fifth album, Chloë and the Next 20th Century. It marks the singer’s first album in four years, and has been described as drawing influence from big band, jazz standards, and traditional pop. The man born Josh Tillman often goes back and forth between personas, switching from a barefoot, semi-hipster indie artist that wouldn’t be out of place at Coachella to a jazz legend from the 1920s. And you can see both sides of Tillman on his new record.
Of course, you may see a bit more of his old school side with new songs like “Funny Girl,” “Goodbye Mr. Blue,” and “The Next 20th Century.” Chloë and the Next 20th Century has cinematic qualities that Tillman describes as a “Hollywood album moving from the ’30s through to the ’60s and melding those influences to create an imagined version of the past.”
Anybody who has followed Father John Misty for years knows that Hollywood has a special place in Tillman’s heart. The California hotspot is named in many of his greatest hits, like “Funtimes in Babylon,” “Leaving LA,” and “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings.” But the new record takes less of a joking stance and more of a serious swing at the glorious era of Golden Hollywood. We can’t help but wonder if people will switch from fist-pumping to classic indie beats to swing-dancing in the streets outside a Father John Misty concert.
Whatever happens in the crowd, the Father John Misty tour is a must-see for 2022. Check the following dates and see if Tillman is coming to your city!
