A Day to Remember is celebrating its seventh album, You’re Welcome, which was released in March 2021 after five years of anticipation. Fans had to wait a while for a follow-up to 2016’s Bad Vibrations, but the metalcore troops surely didn’t disappoint. A Day to Remember delivered all the poppy choruses and intense breakdowns that you’ve become accustomed to over nearly two decades while trading their formerly moany lyrics for more mature themes.
You see, the band has been through a lot over the past few years. They fought and won their lawsuit against former label Victory Records, dealt with the departure of bandmates, and concocted how to fit their famously pop-punk and metal sound into a world of EDM artists. Their solution for the last one was to join them rather than beat them, as evidenced by their 2019 single “Rescue Me” with Marshmello, and You’re Welcome was the solution to other musical woes.
Singles like “Resentment,” “Mind Reader,” and “Degenerates” are reminiscent of the emo band from Ocala, FL, you know and love, while also putting their growth journey on display. A Day to Remember have been innovators in the emo scene ever since they formed in 2003, mixing the hardcore, metal, and pop-punk genres long before it was cool. They’ve been regulars on festivals like Warped Tour and Aftershock, and even created their own called Self Help Fest to promote both quality music and mental health care.
Their absence from the rock scene, both due to the pandemic and work on You’re Welcome, has been tough on fans. However, the band is back and bigger than ever. See one of the best A Day to Remember tours in years beginning in summer 2022, with tickets available now!
