Move over Aftershock and When We Were Young, because Blue Ridge is one of the most underrated rock festivals of the year. It takes place in a more intimate setting in Virginia, with views of lush green pastures and big blue skies as you rock out to your favorites. And just like its peer, Riot Fest, this event features a mostly hard-rock lineup with a splash of hip-hop.

You’ll notice an eyebrow-raising guest in between rock heroes like Lamb of God, Stone Temple Pilots, and Falling in Reverse. Is Ice Cube playing on the same stage as Slipknot and Alice Cooper? Believe it. The iconic rapper is also an honorary rocker that’s often sharing the spotlight with his metal friends, and we’re here for it. This is hardly the weirdest (in the best way) thing that will happen at the 2nd annual Blue Ridge Rock Festival, a meeting ground for metal fans that was off to a rocky start but has finally found its footing.

The inaugural event only happened in September 2021, with planners scrambling to put on a great show mere months after live music was allowed again post-pandemic. While there were a few bumps in the road, people had a great time hanging out with Rob Zombie, Limp Bizkit, The Ghost Inside, Rise Against, and more.
