Alice Cooper 2022 Tour Announcement – Detroit Muscle Tour Schedule
Alice Cooper is preparing for the Detroit Muscle tour in fall 2022, taking the “Godfather of Shock Rock” to 20 US cities. He’ll kick off the trek on September 7th in Bethlehem, PA, and continue through October 8th in Las Vegas, NV.
If these dates sound familiar, that’s because they are. A good majority of Alice Cooper tours occur in the fall, likely due to the spooky factor, and the metal legend even hit the road with KISS’s Ace Frehley around this same time in 2021. It was his first post-pandemic Alice Cooper tour, and now he’s ready for more.
This trek supports Cooper’s 21st full-length album, Detroit Stories, released last year. These songs incorporate his trademark shock rock, situated over nostalgia about his upbringing in Detroit, MI, and the rock and roll legends it produced. In an era where rock is less likely to top the charts than pop, hip-hop, or EDM, the 73-year-old aimed to create a “real rock and roll album” that transports listeners to a different decade. And it’s safe to say that he delivered.
The album features covers of “Rock & Roll” by The Velvet Underground and “Our Love Will Change the World” by Outrageous Cherry, along with original tracks. Many of these will be played on the Alice Cooper tour, along with his classic metal tracks like “Poison,” “Feed My Frankenstein,” and “School’s Out.” While it hasn’t been long since Detroit Stories was released, Cooper (born Vincent Damon Furnier) has even hinted that he’s working on new material!
“I’m working on two albums right now. One is… totally written, and we’ll be doing bed tracks for that one pretty soon,” Cooper told Metal Injection in early 2022. “The other one is just a touch in the future, but that’s being written right now too … They’re two entirely different kinds of albums, but they’re Alice Cooper, pure rock n’ roll albums. The two albums will really be hard rock albums.”
