The B-52’s 2022 Tour Announcement – Farewell Tour Schedule
The B-52’s have announced a farewell tour that you don’t want to miss, as it will be a bittersweet goodbye for the new-wave band. You can see them beginning August 22nd in Seattle, WA, with shows continuing through November 11th in Atlanta, GA.
“Who knew what started as a way to have some fun and play music for our friends at house parties in Athens in 1977 would evolve into over 45 years of making music and touring the world. It’s been cosmic,” says The B-52’s co-founder Kate Pierson. “No one likes to throw a party more than we do, but after almost a half-century on the road, it’s time for one last blowout with our friends and family … our fans,” said fellow co-founder Fred Schneider. “And with KC and the Sunshine Band and the Tubes on board, it will be one hell of a farewell party at these concerts.”
Is it sad to see one of our generation’s best new wave bands stop performing? Absolutely. However, they’re going out with a bang. While they haven’t released an album since 2008, they have dozens of hit singles from every decade to dance along to on the final The B-52’s tour. These include “Love Shack” and “Roam” from their hit 1989 record, Cosmic Thing, plus “Private Idaho,” “Legal Tender,” “Give Me Back My Man” and many more.
The announcement of the final The B-52’s tour isn’t exactly surprising, as they’ve hinted at the possibility of a final trek for years. Schneider told Billboard in early 2019 that they “won’t be doing any major tours anymore, but we’ll be doing gigs and festivals and things like that.” There you have it. As of now, it’s your last shot to see a full-length The B-52’s tour as they’ve done since the mid-1970s, and you shouldn’t wait to get tickets!
