Hamilton, The Musical in Theater – 2021-2023 Tour Schedule
There are revolutionary shows, and then there’s Hamilton. Lin Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop musical about a founding father has changed pop culture and the theater world as we know it, and those of us who have been singing along to “My Shot” since 2015 are excited to see it on stage once again.
Hamilton has been a pop culture phenomenon since premiering on Broadway in 2015, and tours continued to sell out all across the globe, until COVID-19 caused the show to go dark in 2020.
While fans were excited about the Hamilton film appearing on Disney+ in July 2020, a small relief for theatre fans during the pandemic, it’s certainly not the same as seeing this groundbreaking musical on the stage. This is why people can’t wait to see Hamilton return to Broadway on September 14th, along with various tours across the country that continue through 2023.
You don’t want to throw away your shot (pun intended) to step into the room where it happens with one of the most beloved musicals of all time. Hamilton tells (or rather, raps) the story of Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant orphan who builds himself up from nothing to become a legendary soldier, attorney, and Founding Father.
You’ll try not to sing along as Hamilton rubs elbows with George Washington and marries Elizabeth Schuyler – who is as central to the musical as her husband. You may even have a revelation about just how much Alexander Hamilton did for America, a fact that never truly came to light until Lin-Manuel Miranda told his story.
“Legacy…what is a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.” Hamilton says this line in the musical’s climax – a few moments before Aaron Burr fatally shoots him in their infamous duel – and it’s painfully ironic to consider.
Hamilton’s legacy in theater and pop culture will live on for eternity. And while the Founding Father himself wasn’t around to see it, you certainly are… and you don’t want to miss the opportunity to see Hamilton on stage in a city near you.
