Where to See Moon Taxi in 2022
Two Moon Taxi concerts are coming up in fall 2022, and it’s your last chance to see the indie-rock group this year! These performances occur on October 6th in Athens, GA, and the 8th in Memphis, TN.
Moon Taxi has made it a super-fun summer 2022 with various music festival slots, including Rooster Walk and Summer Camp. After sharing the stage with big names like Brothers Osborne, Cage the Elephant, Santigold, Sheryl Crow, and more, they’re finally ready for a couple of headlining Moon Taxi concerts. They continue to support their latest album, Silver Dream, which was a long time coming and certainly lived up to fans’ expectations. Songs like “Palm of Your Hand,” “Light Up,” “The Beginning,” and “Hometown Heroes” are very personal for Moon Taxi, and they can’t wait to share them in two major cities in fall 2022.
Released in January 2021, nearly a year after it was initially meant to debut, Silver Dream is undoubtedly a departure for the band. While their previous material was indie rock at its core, it also had folk roots and a jam band feel that paid tribute to their home bases of Nashville, TN, and Vestavia Hills, AL. The new tracks have more of a mainstream pop, and rock radio feel, fitting for Moon Radio’s fast descent to fame.
The biggest single off their previous album, 2018’s Let the Record Play, picked up millions of streams on Spotify and helped them land appearances as musical guests on late-night talk shows plus commercial placements. Believe it or not, these new songs have an even more significant impact on Moon Taxi, personally and professionally. “Hometown Heroes” is an intimate track that reflects on their rise from Belmont University students to Bonnaroo standouts. At the same time, the darkness of the pandemic ironically helped the group see things in a new light.
