Where to See Kool & the Gang in 2021 and 2022

Kool & The Gang are continuing performances through 2021 and 2022, and now is the time to see the iconic R&B-soul group. You can next catch them on October 30th in Detroit, MI, with the last scheduled performance on June 11th, 2022, in Bremerton, WA.

This tour celebrates the 50th anniversary of Kool & the Gang, along with the band’s latest album Perfect Union! The band has overcome many obstacles to release their 25th record in 2021 – including years of genre experimentation, the tragic loss of numerous members, and a global pandemic that halted performances for over a year. However, they’re back and ready to celebrate good times (pun intended!). 

Perfect Union is a special project in many ways. Not only does it mark the first Kool & the Gang album of new material in over a decade, but it also holds sentimental value that pays tribute to the group’s half-century career. This is one of the last projects completed by Ronald Bell, co-founder of Kool & the Gang and brother of fellow member and namesake Robert “Kool” Bell, before his death in September 2020. 

In an interview with KTLA5, the elder Bell stated that the idea for Perfect Union came when President Biden was nominated for President, and the hit Kool & the Gang song “Celebration” began playing. Over the decades, the track has become a signature song at parties, weddings, and other ceremonies, observing many “perfect unions” that would eventually become the twenty-fifth Kool & the Gang album.

This record symbolizes resilience from the R&B legends, but don’t think they won’t be ready to party. “Celebration” will be played at upcoming Kool & the Gang concerts, along with classics like “Ladies Night,” “Get Down On It,” “Too Hot,” and “Funky Stuff,” mixed in with newer material.
