The National and The War On Drugs 2024 Tour Announcement – Zen Diagram Tour Schedule
The National and The War on Drugs are touring together in 2024! The two influential rock groups will begin the “Zen Diagram tour” on September 12th in Gilford, NH. They’ll stop in cities like New York, NY, Chicago, IL, Los Angeles, CA, and more before concluding on October 7th in Los Angeles, CA.
Is it any surprise that The National is ready to get back on the road? The Cincinnati-based group released two new albums last year, First Two Pages of Frankenstein and Laugh Track, that they can’t wait to live debut. The former is a critically-acclaimed indie rock effort featuring guest appearances from Sufjan Stevens, Phoebe Bridgers, and none other than Taylor Swift herself. As for the latter record, which was a surprise to fans and even The National themselves? It’s equally brilliant, but also complicated.
“Letting go of notions of how to make songs and allowing for some loose, unstructured approaches to come into it,” The National founder Aaron Dressner told Esquire about Laugh Track, and its happier themes compared to previous work. “Also, some songs literally came from just improvising on stage during soundcheck. Maybe it’s having come through a really hard time and nearly not surviving as a band. We came back together and we felt healthy.”
New singles like “Weird Goodbyes” and “Alphabet City” are symbolic of the resilience and conflicting emotions that indie rock is all about. And you’ll be singing along to every song when The National takes the stage. But of course, we can’t forget about their friends in The War On Drugs! While they haven’t released new music since 2021’s I Don’t Live Here Anymore, the Philadelphia-based band has an astounding rock repertoire that’s destined to stir up feelings within the crowd.
Well, rock mixed with Americana, neo-psychedelia, and indie, to be precise. The War on Drugs, led by Adam Granduciel, has redefined the boundaries of indie rock with their genre-bending ways, expansive soundscapes, and intricate production. And we wouldn’t have it any other way. Their fourth album, A Deeper Understanding, won the GRAMMY Award for Best Rock Album in 2018, a testament to The War On Drugs’ expert craftsmanship and collaborative qualities within their music.
These days, The War On Drugs is often seen headlining the best rock and Americana music festivals in the country. But they simply had to take a break from the festival stage to tour with their friends in The National. Their respective songs complement each other beautifully to broaden the musical horizons of the whole crowd. And we can’t wait to see and hear what these two bands have in store for the Zen Diagram tour. Get your tickets today!
