The Head and the Heart 2022 Tour Announcement – Every Shade of Blue Tour Schedule

The Head and the Heart are taking the stage in dozens of cities on the “Every Shade of Blue tour.” They’ll kick off the trek on August 1st in Austin, TX, and continue through October 15th in Nashville, TN.

This The Head and the Heart tour is named for the group’s fifth album, released in April 2022. It deals with the complexity of human emotions and the innermost workings of our relationships, providing empathetic lyrics over the group’s signature indie folk-rock choruses. Singles like “Tiebreaker” and the titular track are reminiscent of the sound you know and love from The Head and the Heart. However, they also display the growth from a global pandemic and a three-year break between albums.

“It does sort of feel like this umbrella effect of inadvertently sort of describing a spectrum of emotions from one symbolic image that feels almost like a mood ring,” frontman Jonathan Russell told American Songwriter about the new record. “The color blue to me can be like this vast, deep, almost intimidating emotion, or enveloping emotion. You think blue is like a beautiful spring day,” he says. “The color just sort of has the breadth of more than one mood or a situation or circumstance, in my opinion.”

Blue often correlates to sad or melancholy feelings, and don’t get us wrong… there are plenty of those on the new The Head and the Heart album. However, it’s also a beacon of hopefulness and faith. Russell describes the new single, “Tiebreaker,” as a “carnival ride through a wide variety of characters and relationships,” while other tracks like “Love We Make,” “Starstruck,” and “Don’t Show Your Weakness” follow the same themes. It’s a new era for the group that serves as a glorious follow-up to 2019’s Living Mirage, and you can’t miss your chance to see them on The Head and the Heart tour.

The Head and the Heart are a new type of indie-folk band… one that blurs the lines between underground appreciation and mainstream success. They’re still playing medium-sized venues to honor intimacy with their longtime fans, but are quickly gaining momentum and have had their music featured in tons of hit TV shows. Do New Girl, How I Met Your Mother, and Chuck ring a bell? People are lining up to get tickets for this The Head and the Heart tour, and you should get yours today before they sell out!
