The Cult 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
The Cult has announced a 13-date outing for spring 2022, beginning on April 21st in St. Petersburg, FL. The English rock heroes will hit cities like Tulsa, OK, Memphis, TN, and Las Vegas, NV, before concluding on May 11th in San Diego, CA.
The Cult hasn’t toured in over two years, with their last trek at the end of 2019 celebrating three decades of their most famous album, Sonic Temple. They surely went out with a bang before live music shut down indefinitely in early 2020, but bands like The Cult don’t stay idle for long. The 80s rockers have been planning away ever since, and have both an exciting tour and their long-awaited new album to debut for their fans.
Their tenth album, Hidden City, came out in 2016, featuring the band’s energetic blend of gothic rock, glam metal, and punk. Since then, they’ve done a few standout The Cult tours and interviews, many of which hinted at new music. Luckily, guitarist Billy Duffy confirmed the news in 2021.
“We’ve been digging away at that over the last year and a half,” Billy told Blabbermouth. “We’re working with a great young English producer called Tom Dalgety. And, obviously, with the circumstances of the last year or so, it’s been a little challenging. But we’re making some progress.
“The philosophy in THE CULT camp, really, is about quality, not quantity,” he continued. “We don’t just need to keep putting out records for the sake of it. Without being ridiculous, we wanna, within a certain realistic time frame, make sure that the records that we put out are as good as they can be. So sometimes that takes a bit longer. And that’s kind of where we’re at.”
No release date has been announced for their eleventh record, but we hope they’ll play some new tunes on The Cult tour! Along with classics like “She Sells Sanctuary,” “Fire,” and “Painted On My Heart,” of course.
