The Black Keys 2024 Tour Announcement – International Players Tour Schedule
The Black Keys are launching the “International Players tour” this fall! Joined by The Head and The Heart, the blues-laced rock band will begin on September 17th in Tulsa, OK. They’ll make 31 stops including Los Angeles, CA, Toronto, ON, and Boston, MA, before concluding on November 12th in Detroit, MI.
The duo, comprised of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney, just released their twelfth album, Ohio Players. And the project has taken The Black Keys and their adoring fans into uncharted territory. Described as a pop crossover album that puts their signature garage, indie, and blues style on the back burner (if only temporarily) in favor of A-list guest vocalists and mainstream airplay, it’s certainly different…but divine.
Ohio Players features collaborations with Beck, Noel Gallagher, Dan the Automator, Greg Kurstin, Juicy J, Lil Noid, and more. This eclectic mix of artists has given rise to a fresh sound that’s already garnered critical acclaim, and it’s hardly a surprise. Rolling Stone referred to Ohio Players as “one of their best LPs,” while the single “Beautiful People (Stay High)” hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay and AAA Airplay charts.
“We had this epiphany: ‘We can call our friends to help us make music'”, says Carney about the new album. “It’s funny because we both write songs with other people—Dan all the time [as a solo artist and producer], me when I’m producing a record. That’s what we do. What we wanted to accomplish with this record was make something that was fun. And something that most bands 20 years into their career don’t make, which is an approachable, fun record that is also cool.”
Check, check, and check! The Black Keys have crafted a fun and flawless project that we’ve had on repeat since its release. With new songs like “I Forgot To Be Your Lover” and “This Is Nowhere,” they’ve drifted from the garage-meets-blues rock sound that’s helped them sell millions of albums, win four GRAMMY awards, and lift themselves up from underdogs to certified rock stars. Was it risky? Yes, but they’ve pulled it off miraculously.
Along with new tracks off Ohio Players, these The Black Keys concerts will also feature older favorites like “Gold on the Ceiling,” “Everlasting Light,” “Tighten Up,” and “Fever.” You’ll get a glimpse into their impressive 23-year-career night after night, and it’s going to be a party with one of rock’s most beloved duos.
