The Black Dahlia Murder 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
The Black Dahlia Murder is returning to all your favorite cities! The melodic death metal band will begin on April 15th in McKees Rocks, PA, and continue for around six weeks before finishing up on May 26th in Minneapolis, MN.
This is a bittersweet occasion for the members of The Black Dahlia Murder, as it’s their first trek since the death of vocalist Trevor Strnad in May 2022. He had been with the band since their formation over twenty years ago and was long known as one of the best frontmen in the scene, so needless to say, fans and bandmates were devastated by the loss. After a few months off and the inauguration of founding member Brian Eschbach, formerly guitarist, as the new lead vocalist, The Black Dahlia Murder is finally ready to get back on the road. And you know they’ll be playing two decades’ worth of death metal hits in honor of their late friend.
They’re continuing to support their ninth and latest album, 2020’s Verminous, along with other heavy essentials from over the years. While fans will certainly miss Strnad’s aggressive growls and mosh-inducing onstage moments, we know that Eschbach will do them justice! The setlist will include The Black Dahlia Murder’s biggest songs like “Moonlight Equilibrium,” “Necropolis,” “Deathmask Divine,” and much more, but we’re still not sure if there will be any new songs. BrooklynVegan reports that the band may be working on a new LP, while the death metal giants have made it clear that they aren’t going anywhere.
“We spent many days thinking things like, ‘Is this over?’” Eschbach Decibel about his grief after Strnad’s passing, “None of us wanted it to be over. We still feel like there is a lot left to do.” “I know Trevor would keep this band going if I went down a deep, dark path and weren’t here. It’s bigger than us.” He continued by stating that he’ll never take his beloved bandmate’s place but will attempt to put his own spin on The Black Dahlia Murder classics. “I can’t go out there and do Trevor’s voice or try to be him,” Eschbach explained, “I can only execute the music of the Black Dahlia Murder with respect and try to do it the most justice I can. I’ve heard Trevor perform more than anyone else alive.”
You heard it here first! Nobody truly knows what to expect on The Black Dahlia Murder’s first full-length trek with their new lineup, but we know that they’ll tear up the venues night after night. They’re one of the best death metal bands in recent years! Need more proof? Get your tickets to their upcoming tour today.
