Metallica 2023-2024 Tour Announcement – M72 World Tour Schedule
Get your Metallica T-shirts and hand horns ready, as the iconic heavy metal band has announced a brand new tour and album for 2023! These Metallica concerts will kick off on August 4th, 2023, in East Rutherford, NJ, making stops in Los Angeles, CA, Detroit, MI, Chicago, IL, and more before finishing up on September 1st, 2024, in Seattle, WA.
“NEW METALLICA SONG. NEW METALLICA ALBUM. NEW METALLICA TOUR,” the band wrote on Instagram, and it’s safe to say that rock and roll fans are freaking out. Their eleventh album and first in seven years, 72 Seasons, will be released in April 2022, while the first single, called “Lux Æterna,” is already rocking people’s socks off. But even more exciting is the Metallics tour announcement, which will hit up dozens of US and European cities with their heavy metal friends in tow.
Called the “M72 World Tour,” this trek has a unique format that Metallica is calling “No Repeat Weekend.” Each city has two nights, two different sets, and two different opening acts. For example? The Metallica concert on August 18th in Arlington, TX, will feature Pantera and Mammoth WVH as supporting acts, while they’ll return to the city two days later on the 20th with help from Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills. Architects, Volbeat, and Greta Van Fleet will also make appearances on select dates, creating one of the best rock and roll lineups in recent years. Of course, the main focus will be Metallica, as the band promises to deliver a classic-yet-modern type of heavy metal energy all through 2023 and 2024,
“72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves,” Metallica frontman James Hetfield said in a statement, referring to the new album name. “The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are.” “I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today,” he continued, “Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”
Metallica has been a rock and roll hero for far longer than 72 seasons, selling over 125 million records worldwide since the early 1980s and becoming a pioneer of thrash metal. And with such a legacy, you know you can expect a killer setlist on every night of the M72 World Tour. We’re not just talking about the classics like “Nothing Else Matters,” “The Unforgiven,” and “Enter Sandman,” but also the new hits that both old and new fans will enjoy. This will be an expedition of heavy metal madness that no rock fan can resist, and you shouldn’t wait to get your tickets to the Metallica tour! Check below to see if they’re coming to your city….
