Tennis 2023 Tour Announcement – Pollen Tour Schedule
Tennis is heading on the “Pollen tour” in early 2023, supporting their sixth album of the same name. The husband-and-wife indie pop duo will begin on March 24th in Atlanta, GA, making stops in Raleigh, NC, Minneapolis, MN, San Diego, CA, and more before finishing up on May 6th in Dallas, TX.
Three years after their last album, 2020’s Swimmer, Tennis is ready to release their first post-pandemic record in style. Now they’re finally able to tour and support their newest songs, like “One Night with the Valet,” in front of thousands of fans. And they wouldn’t have it any other way. The indie pop know is known for its refreshing records that draw fans in with every last catchy chorus or soaring vocal. And while Pollen will be no exception when it’s released on February 10th… there were a few differences in the recording process that will make you want to keep an ear out.
“We wanted to write a big album,” Tennis member Alicia Moore said in a statement, “Something suited for radio, but our songs don’t follow conventional pop structures.” “Instead of choruses with universal themes, I write with a new specificity, focusing on the smallest details of our lives. The more we try to broaden our scope, the more we turn inward.”
“To keep ourselves from falling into old habits, we used instruments and gear that are new to us,” she continued, “We resist the urge to over-edit or do too many takes. Unlike previous albums, which have been more wall of sound, we make a point not to overpower my voice with a dense mix.” Moore’s strong voice is typically an attribute of Tennis, so how can these songs give her vocals a backseat in favor of all-new tools and musical twists? We can’t wait to hear it on Pollen, as we all know that Moore and her husband, Patrick Wiley, work flawlessly together!
The two core members of Tennis go way back, having met in college at the University of Colorado over a decade ago. One marriage later, they decided in 2010 to start their musical adventure and let’s say things have only gone up. They released their debut record, Cape Dory, in 2011 and have released one indie pop hit after another, including “Runner,” “I Miss That Feeling,” “Borrowed Time,” and more. With Pollen just around the corner, we can soon add more future hits to that list, all of which will be played at the 2023 Tennis tour. Get your tickets now!
