LCD Soundsystem 2021 Residency – Brooklyn Steel Performance Schedule
LCD Soundsystem is playing a series of end-of-year shows where it all began – Brooklyn, NY! You can catch the electronic rock band at Brooklyn Steel from November 23rd through December 21st, and it’s going to be quite the party.
LCD Soundsystem has toured the world since forming nearly twenty years ago, spreading their electronica and indie-pop beats across continents. But their hearts will always be in their hometown of Brooklyn, NY, notably Brooklyn Steel where they played their first show ever.
This 20-show residency doesn’t just symbolize LCD Soundsystem returning to the stage after the pandemic but also the group’s first set of shows in over three years. They’ve been quiet since 2018, aside from a couple of live recording LPs. Frontman James Murphy even said in July that the band was “on a full hiatus” and that he “doesn’t want to go out on tour without new music.”
We’re not exactly sure what changed his mind, but we can’t be more excited that the original electronic dance heroes are returning to Brooklyn. They have a vast catalog of dance-rock hits to switch up the set each night – with a few must-have tracks like “Daft Punk Is Playing At My House,” “Dance Yrself Clean,” and “Losing My Edge.”
LCD Soundsystem has released four critically-acclaimed albums, earned several Grammy nominations, and gained legions of fans since forming in 2002. Of course, it hasn’t been without a few bumps. The band infamously broke up in 2011 and played a bittersweet farewell show at Madison Square Garden in New York City, which you can hear on their live album, The Long Goodbye.
They eventually reunited in 2015, playing shows on-and-off throughout the past six years and releasing their fourth album, American Dream, in 2017. While there’s no telling if or when we’ll get a new LCD Soundsystem album, we’re just grateful for the good times and sweet dance moves they’ve brought over the past twenty years.
