They announced this Fall Out Boy tour with a video announcement, featuring a dream sequence from bassist (and face of the group) Pete Wentz in their native Chicago. Soon, he’s woken up by lead vocalist Patrick Stump, before Bring Me the Horizon vocalist Oli Sykes chimes in to announce the mother of all alternative rock tours. The two formerly emo bands go way back, both reaching major success in the early 2000s, and can’t wait to reunite with all their friends and fans on the So Much for (Tour) Dust tour.
The past few years have been instrumental for Fall Out Boy, who embarked on the top-selling Hella Mega Tour with Green Day and Weezer in 2021 and recently announced a new album and single. Due for release in March, their eighth album, So Much (for) Stardust, marks the group’s first record in nearly five years, but is already making waves among the rock music crowd. “Love From the Other Side” is somehow both a symbol of growth and nostalgia for longtime fans of the band, and Fall Out Boy has promised that the rest of the album has been well worth the wait.
“Technology has made it really easy to make records much more quickly these days,” says singer Patrick Stump, “There’s nothing wrong with that, and that spontaneity can be exciting…But we wanted to get back to the way we used to work.” “We wanted to make a record that was really lovingly crafted and deliberate and patiently guided – like someone cooked you a delicate meal. I’m not a very proud guy, but I’m pretty proud of this record.”
Their method of making music is tried-and-true. Wentz writes the lyrics that made their way into every emo kid’s heart in the 2000s, Stump adds in the music, and the result? Countless alternative rock hits, which have topped the charts for over two decades now. You may remember a few, like “Sugar, We’re Going Down,” “Centuries, “Dance, Dance,” “Immortals,” and “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark.” They’ll all be on the setlist on this Fall Out Boy tour, in addition to newer tracks that blend 2000s memories with modern rock.
Fall Out Boy’s legacy in the rock scene is unmatched. They ranked alongside My Chemical Romance as one of the best emo bands of their time, while Wentz helped launch the career of artists like Panic! At the Disco, Cobra Starship, Gym Class Heroes, and more. And the same recognition goes to their tourmates like Bring Me the Horizon and New Found Glory! They’re giving their all on this Fall Out Boy tour that signals a new era for the band, and you shouldn’t wait to get tickets. Check out the following dates!
