Beck and Phoenix 2023 Tour Announcement – Summer Odyssey Tour Schedule
Beck and Phoenix are embarking on the co-headlining “Summer Odyssey tour” in 2023! Joined by Japanese Breakfast, Jenny Lewis, Weyes Blood, and Sir Chloe on select dates, they’ll kick off on August 1st in Seattle, WA, and continue through September 10th in Columbia, MD.
Despite being from different continents, with Beck hailing from Los Angeles, CA, and Phoenix from Versailles, France, the two artists have a longstanding bond. Their signature pop-rock and indie sounds have often been compared, while Beck joined Phoenix onstage back in 2018 for a surprise performance of his own songs like “Lost Cause” and “Jack Ass.” This will be their first major collaboration on the road, but hopefully not the last, and you’ll be blown away by their respective indie pop-rock catalogs.
Or you could also call it alternative rock, anti-folk, psychedelia, and more, in Beck’s case, as he’s never been one to box himself or his music. The 52-year-old singer-songwriter has incorporated every genre in the book over the course of fourteen albums, the most recent being 2019’s Hyperspace. He got his start as a part of the anti-folk movement of the early 1990s and soon became a breakout star with hits like “Loser,” “Where It’s At,” and “Sissyneck.”
This individualism and distinctive artistry have continued for nearly three decades now, with countless critics referring to Beck as a changemaker of music. Rolling Stone even named two of his best albums, 1996’s Odelay and 2002’s Sea Change, on their list of the 500 greatest albums of all time! That’s just the beginning of Beck’s legacy, which also includes six Grammy awards, four NME Awards, and millions of records sold. After a year of performing alongside Arcade Fire and Red Hot Chili Peppers, he’s excited to get back on the road for these Beck concerts, especially alongside his friends in Phoenix!
With a unique blend of indie rock, synthpop, and new wave, Phoenix has been known as one of the best French artists since the 1990s. They’ve released seven albums, the latest being 2022’s Alpha Zulu! The album received critical acclaim with new songs like “Tonight,” “Winter Solstice,” and “Identical.” NME gave the record four stars and compared it to the experience of “wandering the halls of the band’s own personal gallery, a stroll through time, and a chance to see some of their most glistening pieces yet up close.” It’s a fitting statement, especially since they recorded the album in the heart of one of Paris’ best museums!
Phoenix and Beck both have incredible careers that span continents and miles-long musical catalogs. They can’t wait to play together on the Summer Odyssey tour, and hope to see you there! Get your tickets now.
