Clutch 2023 Tour Announcement – No Stars Above Tour Schedule
Clutch is going on the “No Stars Above tour” in spring 2023, taking the hard rock band to over a dozen cities. They’ll kick off on April 11th in Norfolk, VA, making stops in Niagara Falls, NY, Spokane, WA, Cleveland, OH, and more before concluding on May 18th in Sayreville, NJ.
This Clutch tour supports the band’s thirteenth and latest album, Sunrise on Slaughter Beach, released in September 2022. Described as “the natural culmination of what Clutch began as teenagers in the early ’90s,” the long-awaited record features new singles like “Red Alert (Boss Metal Zone)” and “We Strive For Excellence” that remind you why you became obsessed with Clutch over three decades ago. It’s their first full-length project since 2018’s Book of Bad Decisions, and most agree that Clutch truly outdid themselves this time.
Punktastic gave Sunrise on Slaughter Beach a super-positive review, praising the “chunky, blues-laden guitar leads, a pacy, driven rhythm section, and bizarre but superb vocal leads from ringleader Fallon.” They also called Clutch “one of the most consistently brilliant rock bands in the world,” and it’s hardly an exaggeration. 2023 marks the 30th anniversary of their debut album, 1993’s Transnational Speedway League, which put them on the map with songs like “El Jefe Speaks,” “Bacchanal,” and “Rats.” Who doesn’t love the Clutch classics?
They’ve only gotten better with each passing year, and Sunrise on Slaughter Beach has to be one of their best yet…a bizarre but bold album that old and new Clutch fans will love. Frontman Neil Fallon calls it “a weird record” that “was, by and large, a studio creation.” “It reminds me a lot of ‘Jam Room’ in that regard,” he continues, referring to Clutch’s 1999 project. “Under normal circumstances, we may not have entertained the idea of using vibraphones, theremin, or backing vocals (thank you, Deborah Bond and Frenchie Davis!). But as they say, necessity is the mother of weirdness.”
It’s okay to be a bit weird sometimes, as Clutch has proved since the early 1990s. They’re one of the best hard rock bands in the world that are continuing to wow fans with their impeccable records and killer live performances, and you can get a taste of both on the upcoming Clutch tour.
