Butch Walker 2022 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
A new Butch Walker tour is happening in fall 2022, taking the 80s rock hero to eleven cities. He’ll kick off on October 17th in Minneapolis, MN, and make stops in Chicago, IL, New York, NY, Atlanta, GA, and more before concluding on November 8th in Los Angeles, CA.
This Butch Walker tour supports his upcoming tenth album, Butch Walker as… Glenn, which is set for release in late summer 2022. The concept album features Walker stepping into the shoes of a 1970s bar piano player, as exemplified by the single “Holy Water Hangover.” The piano ballad is certainly softer than his 80s glam metal roots would have you believe, but Walker is taking the role very seriously. How so? Let’s just say the music video for “Holy Water Hangover” has him swapping out the heavy black eyeliner for brightly blushed cheeks. At the same time, the country twang differs significantly from the rock opera he released two years ago.
2020’s American Love Story was a love-hate letter to our great nation and fitting for the time period. Now that our world is starting to recover from the pandemic and other issues, Walker is slowing things down a bit with his alter ego, Glenn, the Piano man. Even if you got to know him through his stint as guitarist for the glam metal band SouthGang, or know him as a rock god in every way, you can appreciate the showmanship he puts into every album. This Butch Walker tour and the album are an ode to his past, present, and future, and he can’t wait to share these fresh tracks.
“Between reaching for all of my rock n roll piano balladeer muses of my youth while driving or motorcycling, and feeling a common thread of snarky humor with sad reality, I started a journey for this new crop of songs,” Walker wrote of the album on Instagram. “I said to myself, ‘Okay… you haven’t really written a record that feels like a soundtrack to all the rock balladeer bar singers out there. and you know you wanna.'” “The lows are low as f***. The highs are pretty good. Either way, it’s a bizarre choice for a so-called “career,'” he continued, stating that these songs would enter the mind of a bar pianist with empathy and edgy choruses. It’s a new journey for Butch Walker, but if we’ve learned anything from his concept albums of the past two decades, he can easily pull off any persona.
