Boys Like Girls 2023 Tour Announcement – Speaking Our Language Tour Schedule
Boys Like Girls are hitting the road on the “Speaking Our Language Tour,” marking their first full-length trek in years! Joined by special guests like State Champs, Four Year Strong, 3OH!3, and more, they’ll begin on September 17th in Charlotte, NC. The pop-punk group will continue for around six weeks before concluding on November 1st in Raleigh, NC.
“You’ve waited long enough. See you this fall on THE SPEAKING OUR LANGUAGE TOUR,” they wrote on the Boys Like Girls Instagram page. As the kids say…no lies detected. The Boston-based band went on hiatus shortly after releasing their third and latest album, 2012’s Crazy World, and played very few shows throughout the 2010s.
Each member embarked on their own projects, with singer Martin Johnson writing songs for pop stars like Ariana Grande and Avril Lavigne. Additionally, ex-guitarist Paul DiGiovanni dove into the country music world and is now a Grammy nominee! But longtime fans knew that their favorite emo band would reunite. Let’s just say, they definitely haven’t been disappointed.
Boys Like Girls picked up right where they left off in recent years, playing 2022’s inaugural When We Were Young Festival and announcing new music shortly after. They’ve since come out with a brand new single, “Blood and Sugar,” with their fourth record, From The Grave, due for release in the fall.
Johnson recently opened up to Rolling Stone about Boys Like Girls’ comeback single, which may just be the deepest track they’ve ever written. “I think everyone has an infatuation with something bad for them,” he says. “Cigarettes, sports, gambling, porn, internet validation, pills that change how you feel, buying too many shoes. I know I spend a lot of time trying to fill the empty hole with drugs used to be.”
Martin got sober during the Boys Like Girls hiatus and has worked hard to maintain his personal and professional health. “I spend most of the time trying to fill that hole with perfection,” he continues. “But in the end, nobody’s perfect. Only blood and sugar. That, I suppose, is the inner DNA of the song that pulled us back into the studio together for Boys Like Girls. The song we want to meet you all again with.”
Sure, all the band members are older and wiser now, but they can still write pop-punk bangers that speak to a generation of elder emos. Truly, what more can you ask for from Boys Like Girls? They owned the early 2000s rock scene with anthems like “The Great Escape,” “Love Drunk,” “Dance Hall Drug,” and “Thunder.” And Johnson and Co. can’t wait to have a night of nostalgia with you while celebrating the new chapter of Boys Like Girls.
Boys Like Girls are back and better than ever, and you need to see the pop-punk heroes in action. Get your tickets now for the following dates!
