Bono is currently on his “Stories of Surrender tour,” taking the U2 frontman to six more major cities. Part lecture, part concert, this trek supports his newly released memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, and continues through November 13th in Los Angeles, CA.
“I miss being onstage and the closeness of U2’s audience,” Bono said. “In these shows, I’ve got some stories to sing and some songs to tell… Plus, I want to have some fun presenting my ME-moir, Surrender, which is really more of a WE-moir if I think of all the people who helped me get from there to here.” He also noted that it felt strange performing without his U2 bandmates, who have been by his side since the 1970s. However, he has their “full permission” to tell the many stories of his four-decade career.
Whether he’ll admit it or not (gotta love his humbleness!), Bono is a frontman in every sense of the term. The Irish singer has commanded the stage and created a musical and pop culture legacy unlike any other. And with a background like that, you can bet that he has more than a few tales to tell. Surrender covers the 62-year-old’s journey from start to finish, from his childhood in Dublin to U2’s rise to fame to his ongoing philanthropic work.
Each tale is loosely based on 40 of U2’s most famous songs, including “Sunday Bloody Sunday,” “Beautiful Day,” and “One.” While you may know the Irish rock group for selling over 150 million albums and earning every possible musical accolade in existence, it didn’t start that way. And you can hear Bono talk and sing about his journey on the Stories of Surrender tour. Notable audience members have included Bill and Hillary Clinton, Tom Hanks, and more… so you know it’s a major deal! Get your tickets to see Bono and his famous friends today.
