Billy Strings 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule
Billy Strings has announced a new set of shows for 2023, taking the Grammy-winning bluegrass artist to many US cities. He’ll kick off on February 16th with three nights in Atlantic City, NJ, making stops in Charlottesville, VA, Nashville, TN, Atlanta, GA, and more before wrapping up on March 18th in Cincinnati, OH.
After a summer and fall season filled with music festivals, like Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo, 2023 brings a series of headlining Billy Strings concerts in over a dozen cities. The 30-year-old is literally in a new era of Renewal as he celebrates his fifth studio album. Featuring new songs like “Nothing’s Working,” “Hide and Seek,” and “Red Daisy,” it’s a dreamy selection of hits that represent Strings’ rise to fame and his journey as both an artist and a human.
“Strings is a bluegrass artist, and at the same time, isn’t a bluegrass artist at all,” SPIN wrote about Billy Strings (real name: William Apostol) in a recent story. “Advancing the energy and sound of Gram Parsons’ Cosmic American Music, Strings touches psychedelia, country, rock ‘n’ roll, heavy metal, with jam band energy, concocting a near-forgotten, fresh taste of ‘60s freedom,” the publication says, “And his fans dancing in front of the stage mirror exactly that.”
Coming from a humble background, Strings has overcome a lot to become the certified bluegrass hero he is today…mixed with nearly every other genre under the sun, of course. As much as we loved his 2017 debut, Turmoil and Tinfoil, it was his 2019 record, Home, which really helped to put him on the map. The album earned him a Grammy Award for “Best Bluegrass Album!” There were high expectations for Renewal, no doubt, but he’s met them and more.
Strings left his hard-partying past behind and dove headfirst into a new era with Renewal, both personally and professionally. While his voice is stunning and serene, his guitar is his primary instrument, and he told NPR that he often thinks with his fingers. “I’m trying to talk with my hands. It’s very much like when I’m playing stuff like that; it’s just I’m trying to convey a sort of emotion or say something with my guitar,” he told the publication. “
A lot of my favorite guitar players, you know, sound like they’re laughing or begging or crying,” he continued. “Or, you know, Jimi Hendrix used to make his guitar sound like the bombs in Vietnam. It’s a very amazing thing to be able to communicate with sounds without any words.” His fans definitely agree, and you can witness the magic of a Billy Strings concert in early 2023.
