He’ll kick off on September 7th in New York, NY, and make stops in Washington, DC, Boston, MA, and San Francisco, CA, before stopping on October 1st in Los Angeles, CA.

The hip-hop star, born Wasalu Muhammad Jaco, is celebrating a decade and a half of his second album, Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool. It was a prominent record for Fiasco, debuting at number 15 on the Billboard 200 and spawning singles like “Superstar,” “Hip Hop Saved My Life,” “Dumb it Down,” and “Paris, Tokyo.” He’ll be playing the album from front to back on the fall 2022 Lupe Fiasco tour, which brings back both incredibly fond and often dark memories for the 40-year-old rapper. 

“Oh yeah. A lot of loss. I lost my father, I lost my business partner to prison, and I lost some friends,” Fiasco told XXLMag in 2007 about the time period he recorded the album, “It was a very dark period. It still is in some aspects. “But you know, I’m kind of coming out of it,” he continued, “But especially during the time that the album was being cooked, in my head, it was a very dark kind of period.” They often say that difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations, which was the case for Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool.

This record helped launch him into superstardom.
