Katy Perry in Concert 2021-2022 – Las Vegas Residency Schedule
Katy Perry is scheduled for her very first Las Vegas residency at the end of 2021, aptly titled “Play!” The pop superstar will take the Resorts World Las Vegas stage from December 29th, 2021, through March 19, 2022.
“It is literally larger than life,” Perry told Variety about her Las Vegas residency. “Think Super Bowl, but supersized! This isn’t the next tour, next record, next era. This is an accumulation of everything. It’s probably the weirdest show I’ve ever done. Its humor is dark. It’s a little wrong — but a good wrong.”
For somebody who famously had dancing sharks at her Superbowl Halftime Show and donned a cupcake bra in her “California Girls” video, it’s fun to wonder just how much weirder Perry can get! Theatricality is the basis of her nearly two-decade career, which includes colorful costumes, raunchy singles, and shock value that’s equally strange and sexy.
Katy Perry has been a pop music icon since going mainstream with “I Kissed A Girl” in 2008, and we can’t wait to hear this single in Las Vegas. Of course, along with other hit singles like “Firework,” “Teenage Dream,” “Roar,” and “Part of Me.” And then there’s “Waking Up in Vegas,” the retro and rejuvenating song that will be the perfect fit for “Katy Perry: Play.”
The almost 37-year-old Perry has slowed down a bit since her days of shocking interviews and subtle feuding with Taylor Swift. She’s transitioned into motherhood with her and Orlando Bloom’s 1-year-old daughter, Daisy, and released her sixth album, Smile, in 2020 – which is a bit more low-key than her previous releases.
But theatricality and Las Vegas shows are in her blood – with Perry stating that her aunt and grandmother were both Sin City performers. She’s excited to remerge from a quiet year like 2020 and get back on stage where she belongs, and this will be a Katy Perry concert like you’ve never seen before.
