You likely already know the hit song “White Christmas,” as it’s on practically every holiday playlist… but are you familiar with its origin? It came straight from the old film starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye and became an instant hit when it premiered in the 1950s. People loved it even more when the White Christmas musical premiered onstage in St. Louis, MO, in 2000, eventually making its way to Broadway and the West End for a festive family affair! These days, it’s playing in significantly smaller cities than New York City or London, but that’s very fitting for the story’s quaint Vermont setting. The story of White Christmas is as heartwarming as you’d expect, with song-and-dance men Wallace and Davis deciding to follow the Haynes sisters to Vermont in 1944. They may insist that it’s for business purposes, but let’s say, without spoilers, that there are definitely romantic sparks flying there! When they get to the snowy state, the two men run into their former commanding general in World War II, who owns the lodge where they were meant to perform. Sadly, the resort is on the brink of bankruptcy with lots at stake for all parties involved, and Wallace and Davis realize that they need a plan. Can they help save their friend, land the girls of their dreams, and sing their hearts out in the process? You’ll have to see!
