Where to See The Driver Era in 2022
We’re speeding towards the final The Driver Era concerts in summer 2022, pun intended. The alternative rock-funk musical duo performs their next show on August 27th in Pomona, CA, and makes three stops before concluding on September 2nd in Chesterfield, MO.
“Can’t believe there’s only seven shows left of the Summer Tour,” the duo wrote on The Driver Era Instagram, “Tag us in your summer tour merch pics. See you tonight, SF, and LA tomorrow!” Ross and Rocky Lynch have been documenting these shows for weeks, with the brothers showing off their musical chops in Toronto, ON, Austin, TX, New York, NY, and more. The trek may be coming to an end, but they’re excited to end this The Driver Era tour with a bang. Be prepared to hear their best songs like “Preacher Man,” “Feel You Now,” “Heaven Angel,” and more in a whole new light!
And, of course, a few new songs as well. As they wrap up their summer tour, The Driver Era is also preparing for the release of their third album, Summer Mixtape, in fall 2022. Featuring the single “Malibu,” it’s definitely an ode to the SoCal roots of the Los Angeles-based band that will give us sunkissed, super-catchy choruses through the rest of the season. Fans are used to a mainly alternative rock sound with a hint of funk and R&B from the brothers, but they’ve stated that they set no limits on their upcoming album.
“We try to not like, set too many restrictions on our sound or like, the sonic direction that we take,” the duo told Magnetic Mag. “We like to be like little wildflowers in the studio and just, like, make whatever feels good in that moment.” Their musical direction had undoubtedly come a long way since they formed The Driver Era in 2018, even before they were a part of the now-defunct pop-rock group R5.
X was an album of bangers that drew in big crowds from the get-go, both for the alternative pop-rock songs and the brothers’ pretty faces. They proved capable of a more mature sound on Girlfriend last year, while Summer Mixtape is entering new territory. What can we expect? You’ll have to see these The Driver Era concerts.
