Weezer 2023 Tour Announcement – Indie Rock Road Trip Tour Schedule

It’s time to take an “Indie Rock Road Trip” with Weezer! The Grammy-winning rock band has just announced a tour of the same name, joined by Modest Mouse, Future Islands, Spoon, and more on select dates. They’ll kick off these Weezer concerts on June 3rd in Lexington, KY, making 30+ stops before wrapping up on September 17th in Asbury Park, NJ.

Can you still be referred to as an indie band when you’ve been killing it in the rock scene for three decades? And when you sell out stadiums alongside Green Day and Fall Out Boy on the “Hella Mega tour”, just like Weezer did a couple of years ago? Absolutely, as Rivers Cuomo and his bandmates are owning this term with pride on their upcoming trek. The Los Angeles-based group may have reached cult status since their formation in 1992, but they’re still the geek rock masters you know and love. Need more convincing? Expect to hear not only cult favorites like “Buddy Holly,” “Say It Ain’t So,” “Island in the Sun,” and “Beverly Hills,” but also semi-new songs from their most recent project. The fifteenth Weezer album, 2021’s Van Weezer, is a selection of tracks inspired by heavy metal and classic rock sounds from before their time. Sure, it’s a major departure from their usual indie rock and power pop-rock beats, but Weezer still pulls it off effortlessly. Cuomo is at his finest on new singles like “Hero” and “The End of The Game,” which pay tribute to his hair metal heroes. 

This Weezer tour will have you playing air guitar to glam metal-inspired tracks one second, before fist-pumping along to power pop the next. And that’s just part of the charm of a Weezer concert. The band has never defined themselves by one rock subgenre, nor have they ever been afraid to get a bit weird, and you’re always free to let your hair down at a Weezer show.
