Tool 2022 Tour Announcement – Fear Inoculum Tour Schedule
Tool is returning to the road with their Fear Inoculum tour, and the prog-rock heroes are picking up right where they left off! These performances begin on January 10th in Eugene, OR, and continue for over 30 dates before wrapping up on March 20th in Cleveland, OH.
“It is with great pleasure I get to announce our return to the road,” drummer Danny Carey said in a statement. “These past 18 months have been trying to say the least, but from great trials come great lessons and great rewards. We are genuinely looking forward to sharing them with you.”
After postponing their 2020 Tool tour due to the pandemic, which supports their 2019 album Fear Inoculum, the group is coming back bigger and better than ever. Tool has long been celebrated for its visual art and ever-evolving style that incorporates alternative, art, and progressive rock. They’ve served up a unique sound with all five albums, and Fear Inoculum is no exception.,
The fifth Tool album marked their first in thirteen years since 2006’s 10,000 Days and critics liked what they heard. Consequence of Sound stated that the record “lives up to its daunting expectations with songs that showcase Tool in peak performance as musicians and compositional arrangers.” The publication also praised singer Maynard James Keenan and his “emotional” and “haunting” vocals, along with heavy bass lines that are trademark Tool.
Spin delivered an even grander review, praising Fear Inoculum for “continuing to blur the lines between art, psychedelia, alt-metal, and prog rock with undiminished curiosity and skill” while “remaining defiantly contrary to the auto-tuned, digitally-quantized world in which we now live.” Harsh, but fair! The album also won a 2019 Grammy Award for “7empest,” one of the heaviest tracks on the album!
A Tool concert has become a meeting ground for nearly every metal fan, and it’s not only due to their three-decade catalog of hard-rock hits. They’re visual artists who illuminate the stage with the grandest light shows, along with video screens that narrate their greatest hits as Keenan belts them out. “The Pot,” “Sober,” “Pneuma,” all will be supported by a spectrum of vivid lights and video backdrops… and you’ll understand why these metal icons also belong to the “art rock” genre.
