Are you ready for a new The Winery Dogs tour and album in 2023? The rock supergroup will release its third album, aptly titled III, on February 3, while the trek will begin shortly afterward. Catch a The Winery Dogs concert beginning February 15th in Greensburg, PA, making stops in Sayreville, NJ, Dallas, TX, Hopewell, VA, and more before finishing up on April 6th in Nashville, TN.
2023 marks a new chapter for The Winery Dogs, composed of Richie Kotzen, Mike Portnoy, and Billy Sheehan. It won’t just be the trio’s first tour since 2019, even before the pandemic shut down live music, but also their first album in seven years! A lot has happened since 2015’s Hot Streak, but fans always had a feeling that the guys would be back. They’re veteran musicians, after all, hailing from groups like Poison and Dream Theater, and their hiatus was just a gateway into bigger and bolder things.
They’ve already released a set of new songs, including “Xanadu,” which is a particular favorite of drummer Portnoy. “Coming out of the gates, that’s a barnburner,” he told Blabbermouth. “It’s one of the fiercest tracks on the album.” He also commented on the fact that he drops his drumsticks right as the song concludes, symbolic of not necessarily an ending but a new beginning for The Winery Dogs. “At the end there, you’re hearing me toss my sticks — not in frustration, but very much in satisfaction of what we had just done,” he clarifies, and we can’t wait to hear what other tricks the men are up to on III.
