The Who 2022 Tour Announcement – Who Hits Back! Tour Schedule
The Who have announced the clevely-named Who Hits Back! Tour, a two-part trek that lasts through the end of the year. The English rock icons will begin performing on April 22nd in Fort Lauderdale, FL, and play consistently through May 28th in New York, NY. After a summer break, they’ll return to the stage from October 2nd in Toronto, ON, through November 5th in Las Vegas, NV.
“Pete and I said we’d be back, but we didn’t think we’d have to wait for two years for the privilege,” vocalist Roger Daltrey said in a statement. “This is making the chance to perform feel even more special this time around. So many livelihoods have been impacted due to Covid, so we are thrilled to get everyone back together — the band, the crew and the fans. We’re gearing up for a great show that hits back in the only way The Who know how. By giving it everything we got.”
It’s not an exaggeration for one of the greatest rock bands of all time. They’ve sold 100 million albums, earned a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and been credited with originating the “rock opera” since forming in 1964. And while Daltey and his bandmate Pete Townshend are now in their 70s, they can still rock just as hard as they did decades ago. Will you be joining them for their post-pandemic debut on The Who tour?
The band made headlines in 2019 when they released their twelfth studio album, Who, which was also their first in thirteen years. The album gained significant praise with new singles like “Ball and Chain,” and “I Don’t Wanna Get Wise,” but was sadly denied a proper The Who tour due to the pandemic. It’s been a while since Daltrey and Townshend graced the stage together, but they’re more than ready to reunite with fans and friends.
The group will be joined onstage by an orchestra for most nights throughout the Who tour, covering their six-decade career with famous tracks from Tommy, Quadrophenia, Who’s Next, and more. While Townshend is known for running around onstage headbanging to hard-rock hits, he likes the addition of the orchestra to slow things down a bit between bangers.
“It gives me a chance to make sure what I play, what I do, where I look, how I behave on the stage, is more connected with the people around me,” he told Rolling Stone about the orchestra, “and with the audience, and with, to get prosaic about it, an inner sense.
“In other words,” he continues, “I don’t lose myself the way I did when I used to jump around, have a big adrenaline rush, and then come off the stage and someone would say, ‘Great show,’ or someone would say, ‘Terrible show,’ and I wouldn’t really know what I had done, to be honest, since I was like someone running a marathon. So the orchestra gives me space.”
This will be a special The Who tour for all involved – returning to the stage after two years with a new LP and appreciation for live music. It’s not every day that you get to see a band as iconic as Daltry and Townshend, which is why you need tickets for the Who tour! Check the following dates and get yours today.
