The National 2023 Tour Announcement – First Two Pages of Frankenstein Tour Schedule
The National is heading on a world tour in 2023 in support of their upcoming album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein! The indie rock giants will kick off on May 20th in Chicago, IL, making stops in Boston, MA, Los Angeles, CA, Detroit, MI, and more before concluding on August 18th in New York, NY.
First Two Pages of Frankstein marks the group’s first record since 2019’s I Am Easy to Find, and the first time they’ve come together in quite a while. In the past several years, The National members all went their own way. Singer Matt Berninger released his solo record Serpentine Prison, guitarist Bryce Dessner went the way of classical music and film scores, and Aaron Dessner did too much to even put into words… but we’ll try.

He helped produce several albums, including two by Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams‘ debut. He recorded a collaborative album with Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon as part of their side gig, Big Red Machine. Needless to say, he’s a busy guy, but all the Dessner’s musical relationships have paid off. First Two Pages of Frankenstein features all-star guest vocals from Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, and Sufjan Stevens!

With help from their brothers and famous friends, The National has pulled off one of their best albums in recent years, which is really saying something. A whopping four of their nine studio albums (six at the time) were included in NME’s 2013 list of the 500 greatest albums of all time! Ten years later, they’re making even more of a statement with new songs like “Tropic Morning News” and “The Alcott,” along with all your older favorites.
Can you believe it’s been 22 years since The National released its self-titled debut? They’ve gone on to do incredible things since then, but we’ll always appreciate the songs that put them on the map. These include “About Today,” “Mr. November,” “Weird Goodbyes,” “Fake Empire,” and more, all of which will be included in the setlist for a mix of old and new essentials. Will you be there?
