The 1975 2022 Tour Announcement – At Their Very Best Tour Schedule
The 1975 is heading on the “At Their Very Best tour” in fall 2022, which supports their upcoming fifth album. The English pop-rock group will kick off the trek on November 3rd in Uncasville, CT, and make stops in New York, NY, Austin, TX, Seattle, WA, and over a dozen other cities before wrapping up on December 17th in Pittsburgh, PA.
The fifth album by The 1975, titled Being Funny in a Foreign Language, is set for release on October 14th. While fans have been patient regarding the follow-up to 2020’s Notes on a Conditional Form, the band couldn’t exactly leave them hanging. That’s why they’ve released two singles, “Part of the Band” and “Happiness,” the second of which is complete with vintage and ultra-vivacious music video. It has all the synthpop hooks and heartfelt lyrics you’ve come to love from frontman Matt Healey, and he insists that it’s just the beginning of this new era for The 1975.
Healey states that the new record has “less structure” and is “not even produced that much,” which may surprise fans a bit. Isn’t that a less-than-ideal situation? Not so much for The 1975, who used the carefree nature of their new album to show another side of themselves that fans haven’t seen in years. Yes, they’re an uber-famous group who have played the world’s biggest venues and topped the charts with singles like “Robbers” and “It’s Not Living,” but they still know how to jam. And this is what led them to create one of their most charismatic records in years.
“It came through like jamming. And we haven’t done that in like years,” Healey said in an Apple Music interview about the group’s new single, “Happiness.” “So we just wanted this record to be really like a captured moment and not be too constructed and even produced that much…. We did it in like a day or so,” he continued, “And it’s us having fun. And I think that there’s this real desire in art to see something remarkable with as little technology as possible.”
This new album was produced in collaboration with Jack Antonoff, the Bleachers frontman who has also worked with artists like Taylor Swift, Lorde, Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine, and dozens more. He helped put a perfectly unpolished touch on the indie synthpop sounds that you know and love from The 1975, and they can’t wait to show you a new side of themselves.
