Sylvan Esso 2021 Tour Announcement – Shaking Out the Numb Tour Schedule
Sylvan Esso is continuing their trek throughout the US, with dates through November and two performances scheduled for May 2022. You can next catch the electronic pop duo on October 29th in Madison, WI, with the last show of 2021 on November 16th in New York, NY.
The group, comprised of Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn, has kept busy performing since the grand return of live music. They’ve played shows with Phoebe Bridges, Samia, and more, and will now set out on their headlining tour in late October. It’s titled “Shaking Out the Numb” after a track from their 2020 album, Free Love, and this trek is destined to deliver a good time.
While Sylvan Esso songs are often upbeat and dance-worthy, they slowed things down a bit with their third record… which focuses on the themes of lockdown. These range from Zoom calls and virtual listening parties (yes, they had one) to darker aspects like loneliness. Needless to say, the process of making the record was a bit different than it’s been in the past.
“Stuck inside and searching for a way to connect to our own work without the (what I had finally come to realize as) essential finalizing process of playing in front of other people, I was feeling both frozen in conventions of my own making and the need to redefine the way I experienced the act of making something in the first place,” Sanborn explained in a press release.
“Over the course of about six weeks, I would regularly put together a small system of instruments and sounds that felt right in the moment, and just start recording without too much forethought.” The result? An excellent third album that made its way onto the Billboard 200 and Top Rock Album charts, respectively, and has been a crowd-pleaser at their 2021 concerts.
