SOFI TUKKER 2024 Tour Announcement – Bread Tour Schedule
Let’s get this “Bread!” SOFI TUKKER is kickstarting their latest era with a new tour, beginning on September 18th in Austin, TX. The EDM duo will visit cities like Forest Hills, NY, Toronto, ON, Morrison, CO, and more before concluding on November 8th in San Francisco, CA.
“All around the world, people break bread together to connect and come to common understandings,” says Sophie Hawley-Weld, one half of SOFI TUKKER. “That’s exactly what we hope this album does for people. It’s an invitation to put down our differences and get back in touch with what is fundamental.” While there’s still a few months before the third SOFI TUKKER album, Bread, is released on August 23rd, they’ve provided a few much-needed crumbs in the meantime. And we like what we hear.
The album’s title stands for “Be Really Energetic and Dance,” which is precisely what fans have done with SOFI TUKKER’s brand of House music over the past decade. But now they’re gearing up to make fans move even more…or rather, “Throw Some Ass,” which also happens to be the first Bread single. But while the music video is playful and perfectly bootylicious, as one would expect from Sofi Tukker, the track actually has a much deeper meaning.
“Throw Some Ass” is about Hawley-Weld’s horrific back injury and subsequent discomfort, detailing how she was able to remedy herself through the power of dance. It’s the ultimate anthem for those who also deal with chronic pain, which she hopes will be a relatable moment for fans on the Bread tour. As for the instrumentals? The single is a cultural amalgamation of Brazil, club beats, and the classic House that Sofi Tukker has played for over a decade now, and could you expect anything less?
“The song started where I was working on some Brazilian funk-inspired drumbeats,” added Tucker Halpern, the other half of SOFI TUKKER, on the track’s instrumental. “This was right after we had spent some time in Brazil at Carnaval last year. At 6:00 a.m., we went into this nightclub under the parade. Someone was playing a baile funk set, and I was blown away. The song really gives the vibe of that club, Carnaval, and Brazil.”
Even if you’re not prepared to jet off to Brazil for the summer, a SOFI TUKKER concert may just be the next best thing. The GRAMMY-nomianted group is thrilled to play new songs off Bread, along with older favorites like “Swing,” “It Don’t Matter,” and “Larry Bird.” Get your SOFI TUKKER tickets now!
