Roger Waters 2022 Tour Announcement – This Is Not a Drill Tour Schedule
Roger Waters has again rescheduled dates for his This is Not a Drill tour, now set to begin in the summer of 2022. The first performance will take place on July 6th in Pittsburgh, PA, and makes 36 stops before ending on October 8th in Dallas, TX.
This Roger Waters tour will take occur a full two years after it was initially scheduled – as it was sidelined twice by the COVID-19 pandemic. But the Pink Floyd co-founder is just as ecstatic to return to the stage as his fans are to see him, and you can expect to watch a rock and roll legend in all his glory.
“This Is Not a Drill is a groundbreaking new rock and roll/cinematic extravaganza, performed in the round, it is a stunning indictment of the corporate dystopia in which we all struggle to survive, and a call to action to LOVE, PROTECT and SHARE our precious and precarious planet home,” Waters said in a statement.
“The show includes a dozen great songs from PINK FLOYD’S GOLDEN ERA alongside several new ones, words, and music, same writer, same heart, same soul, same man,” he continued. “Could be his last hurrah. Wow! My first farewell tour! Don’t miss it. Love R.”
We’ve learned to take “farewell tours” with a grain of salt from classic rock icons, as they nearly always return to the stage… but you’d better get tickets just in case! The always-political Waters planned for this tour to line up with the 2020 presidential election, sharing mantras and messages of hope through his fifty-year catalog of progressive rock hits. But even with the election behind us, there’s still plenty to fight for, and that’s what Waters hopes to share on the This is Not a Drill tour.
The legacy of Roger Waters is undeniable, both as a solo artist and founding member of Pink Floyd. While he’s been open about his struggles with his former bandmates (Google it,) he still holds his time in the band very dear… and you can expect to hear a few Pink Floyd hits on this Roger Waters tour.
“Breathe,” “One of These Days,” “Time,” and “Welcome to the Machine” will undoubtedly be played by Waters on the tour, along with hits from his four solo albums. It’s going to be a beautiful blend of nostalgic and modern-day masterpieces, and you don’t want to miss the Roger Waters trek that “could be his last hurrah!” Check the schedule below and get your tickets to the This Is Not a Drill tour now.
